Write Up On Results Of Audience Website Questionnaire
Write Up of what my audience want to see on the webpage
I created a questionnaire asking questions related to how audiences use artist webpages, and what the most used pages are on websites. This was important research to carry out because I am only focusing on two other pages for my website. I asked 15 members of my target demographic to complete this questionnaire, 6 males and 9 females, ages 16-18, so the lower end of my target demographic.
I found that the pages that the main reasons people visited artist webpages were to buy tickets, buy merchandise and tour information. This is a useful piece of information because this will influence my choice of page that I include on my own website. I found that only 2 respondents visited the artist webpage for pictures of the artist. ‘Exclusive content’ evoked a mediocre response from respondents, with 5 circling it. This is useful as I can now ensure that my website is tailored to the uses of my audience, including the elements that matter most to them: tickets, tour information and merchandise.
Furthermore, when asked which type of webpage (merchandise, about me, tour date information) most appeals to the audience, by far the majority of respondents chose the ‘merchandise’ page and the ‘tour page’. I then asked which type of webpage they would most like to see, and again, 11 out of 15 said a merchandise page, and 13 out of 15 specified they wanted a tour page.
In addition to asking what my target demographic did want to see, I also wanted to know which pages were the least appealing. 100% of respondents stated that the ‘About Me’ page was the least relevant.
This is useful information to know, as I had originally planned to include an ‘About Me’ page as a standalone page. However, after conducting this research, I think I might include a small ‘about me section’ at the bottom of the Home page.
Finally, I included pictures of my initial drafts of web pages, including an ‘about me’ page, a ‘tour’ page, ‘merchandise’ page, and asked respondents to pick two out of the three that they would rather see on the webpage. All of the respondents stated that they would prefer to see a ‘tour’ page and a ‘merchandise’ page rather than an ‘about me’ page.
This research was invaluable in finding out what my target demographic want on a website. due to the nature of the brief, I may have to combine the tour and merchandise elements onto one page in order to both fit the brief, and include all elements that my target audience desire.
